ZHOMBA MISSION
The community in Zhomba has the commitment of the pastoral attention to the mission of this area in Gokwe Diocese. It was constituted as Mission Parish in 2005, building the existing structures in 2006. There are three missionaries serving there at this moment.
The community is working following the indications of the Diocese in the different fields, and team work is the Claretian sign of the missionaries serving there. The Pastoral plan of the community is integrated in the communitarian project.
Our context is of first evangelization, as less than 10% of the population is Catholic. There are 18 centers in the Mission summoned in three sub-parishes or pastoral areas. Many parishioners have to walk some kilometers to reach their place for prayer. It is a challenge when we organize a meeting or some workshops for formation or prayer.
As a community, we prioritize the Small Christian Communities visiting them every year, the formation of the leaders and the catechists, the journey with the youth and their advisors, and the different means to make this local Church to grow up in self-reliance.
The parishioners are organized in four Lay Associations or Guilds that strengthen the responsibility of the members in their faith and services in the Church for the evangelization with the people.
Finally the Mission is also in charge of a new school from 2017.
