Ruwa community was constituted in July 2007, as a communitarian group with other houses in Zimbabwe, two or three missionaries were living there always, in charge of the running of the parish, school ministry and for some time initial formation, vocation promotion and publications.
Initially the community run St Charles Parish, which was a parish found in the Archdiocese of Harare, Zimbabwe. The parish was found in Ruwa which is situated east of Harare. The parish covered an area of 285 square kilometers. According to the census held in 2012 the area covered by the parish had a population of about 56,333 people of which only 5% are Catholic faithful.
There were two big centers and three small centers in the Parish. The two large centers are within an urban set up while the three small centers cover farming areas. One of the big centers became a parish in October 2018, when Saint Dominic Parish was born, as a division of Saint Charles Lwanga.
The Mission of the Parishes are: To strengthen Small Christian Communities using a well catechized, committed, and faithful Leadership working as one family in Christ in order to preach our Faith through action.
There are two schools from the Diocese in the territory of the Parish of Saint Dominic, St. Vincent Primary and St. Vincent Secondary School. The two of them are under the Archdiocese of Harare jurisdiction, the parish priest is the Local Responsible Authority in the name of the Archbishop.
Implementing high education standards, taking care of the Catholic Ethos trough prayers and teachings of the Church, with a serious care of the administration and transparency, developing the structures of the schools in liaison with the parents are some of the main focus in this ministry.
