His first concern was to take the elderly and sick Brother Ramon Garces to the Sanatorium run by the Sisters in Reus. From there, on July 24th, he travelled by train to Borges\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW143868280\">Blanques<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">, walking the final 14 kilometres to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW143868280\">Mollerosa<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">, near\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW143868280\">L\u00e9rida<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">. The train stopped longer than necessary in\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW143868280\">Vimbod\u00ed<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">\u00a0to change engines, and Antoni got out of the carriage to walk along the platform<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">. Then\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">someone of malicious intent suspected something strange and he was arrested. They marched him along the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">\u00a0streets to the Police station<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">\u00a0and, at about noon, they took him along the road to the place call<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">ed the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW143868280\">Puntarr\u00f3<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">, where he was killed.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">Before dying, drawing strength from the bottom of his missionary soul, he shouted:<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">\u201cLong live Christ the King!\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143868280\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143868280\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW152044220\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW152044220\">JAUME MIR\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A few days after the death of Brother Antoni\u00a0Capdevila, specifically on July 29th, Fr\u00a0Jaume\u00a0Mir was to suffer the same fate.\u00a0The revolution caught up with him when he was directing a Retreat with the Carmelite Sisters of Charity in Francol\u00ed Esplugues. With the dissolution of the Religious Community on July 21st, he took refuge with them in the Chaplain&#8217;s house.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The martyrdom of Fr\u00a0Jaume\u00a0seems to bear the stamp of a vile betrayal. Wanting to move to Tarragona, he went to the Police station for the appropriate pass. He got it, but the people who gave it to him asked for it back the next day. He requested another, and was told there was no need for one, because they themselves were going with him to Montblanc Police station.\u00a0The militiamen drove him to Montblanc to put him on the train. The truth is that, the same day, on the 29<span data-fontsize=\"11\">th<\/span>\u00a0in the afternoon, his body was laid to rest in cemetery of Tarragona.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW133516432\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW133516432\">SEBASTI\u00c1 BALSELLS\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">The revolution in July caught Brother\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">Sebastian in La\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">Selva<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">\u00a0del Camp.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">He decided to take refuge in his birthplace in the village of La\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW22075918\">Fuliola<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">. On August 15<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">th, at night<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">he\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">heard eight menacing shouts at the door, calling for\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">him<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">; he<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">\u00a0was thrust into a car which took him to<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">\u00a0the Police station of\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW22075918\">T\u00e1rrega<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">The car continued along the road<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW22075918\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW22075918\">The car stopped, the militiamen tied our Brother to a tree trunk and fired eight shots.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW177659298\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW177659298\">BROTHERS ANDREU FEL\u00cdU AND PAU CASTELL\u00c1,<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both were born in the same town, both shared the same religious life in the Claretian Congregation, both spent their best years working on the tough Mission of Equatorial Guinea; together they peacefully passed their old age in the same community.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sons of La\u00a0Selva\u00a0del Camp, when the revolutionaries dissolved their Community, both went to their own families, staying there for three months until the Police authorities of Reus decided to upset the quiet routines of their neighbouring town and made up the list of those who should be shot.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They were\u00a0arrested without further ado on October 26<span data-fontsize=\"11\">th<\/span>. Amongst the prisoners there were many priests and religious, and lay people\u00a0who\u00a0were distinguished Catholics,\u00a0who passed the time in their own way on deck,\u00a0despite close monitoring from the red militiamen, who couldn\u2019t stand seeing rosary beads, even though they were made\u00a0\u200b\u200bfrom knotted string!, nor did they tolerate seeing lips that moved in prayer &#8230; The way of life was strict: \u201cNo lips or fingers, or knots!\u201d &#8230;<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some ten Claretians passed through this dreadful prison, but only two of them would leave to meet their deaths: Br. Antoni\u00a0Vilamassana\u00a0and Fr.\u00a0Frederic Vila.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW1069330\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW1069330\">CON<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW1069330\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW1069330\">CLUSION<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These Claretian Martyrs were beatified in Tarragona on October 13rd, 2013. All of them, according\u00a0to the motto of the feast of the beatification, were \u00abstrong and courageous witnesses of faith\u00bb.
